The Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona

The Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona (Photographic Archive of Barcelona), created in 1931 and located on the second floor of the old Convent of Saint Augustine, conserves over two million photographs from the early days of photography to the present day, mostly featuring the city of Barcelona.

Professional and amateur photographers, publishing houses, Barcelona celebrities, institutions, families, anonymous citizens and even the City Council have contributed to this archive over the years. It has a reference room, workrooms, laboratories, seven repositories for the safekeeping of photographs and a new exhibition room, designed for the periodic showing of photos from amongst its holdings.
